MyArt Dublin Presents
The Watchmaker
MAY 2017
The ballet touches upon a universal issue: that of happiness, of self-actualisation and well-being available to us every day. This ballet is unique in the way that it brings street dance into the theatre and gives it a central focus. It unites professional dancers of various styles (classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop, popping, break dance and krump), nationalities and cultures (Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Brasil, Argentina, France, Italy, Australia, Turkey, Poland, South Africa). ErnBotTik who performs the part of the Watchmaker dances in the popping style. He is one of the few professionals who dance and teach popping in Ireland.

“The Watchmaker” presents the reality of people living in a busy modern city. Lost amidst the hustle and bustle of routine, precious moments of life slip by unappreciated.  By means of dance we see family disputes, children neglected, self-criticism and addiction. The main character is a watchmaker. He is aware of every moment. While enjoying the here and now, he leads a mindful and fulfilling life. He observes the people of the city and endeavours to help them as much as possible. Ultimately these citizens must choose either to accept their true calling: to appreciate and take advantage of the time they are gifted or to while away their hours in stress and despair.

Evil spirits spread like a deadly virus throughout the city, trying to destroy peace and harmony. They infect the world, stealing the lifetime of the unsuspecting citizens. The characters overcome adversity.

What solution they will find and what will happen next – to be discovered during the show.

The Duration of the show is 1 hour and 40 minutes. The structure of the performance includes two acts (14 scenes) set in “the Street”, the World of Shadows, and the Watchmaker’s atelier.

Woman He Loves
DECEMBER 2017

A Stage Whispers presentation directed and choreographed by Loli Ros Gordon
Poetry, dance and music mingle in this re-imagining of the characters from W. B. Yeats’s The Only Jealousy of Emer and weaves them into a circular narrative of memories, myth and ritual.
Physical theatre and live music, featuring uilleann pipes, bodhran, tin whistle, flute, cello and pipa, blend with flamenco dance, to trace the poet’s process, from Irish mythology and folklore to imaginative compositions, desires and conflicts.
This performance encompasses practice-based PhD research on Re-staging Poetic Drama for Post-modern Digital Multi-culture, developed in Woman with A Suitcase of Salt (2016).

The Wallpaper - Fleet to Feet Theatre

Combining dance and theatre, The Wallpaper deals with the perception of "madness" and plays with the fine line between reality and hallucination. The Wallpaper explores the feeling of seclusion through myths and stories, sucha as Charlotte Perkins' The Yellow Wallpaper, the Greek Myth of Ariadne and the Blue Beard legend. Characters who seemed to have escaped from their own tales are drawn to one another by their experience of confinement.

Devised + Performed by: Kate Connaughton, Lea Weber, PACHE, Stella and Ana Belen Lopez Rodriguez.

Directed by: Loli Ros Gordon

A Stage Whispers presentation devised, directed and choreographed by Loli Ros Gordon.

Theatre, dance and music re-imagines the lives of characters from Federico Garcia Lorca’s ‘Rural Trilogy’ and weaves them into a circular narrative of memories, myths and rituals, reflecting contemporary concerns.

Poetic language and performance combine Flamenco with contemporary choreography to relay the tragic tale of a bride’s conflicting desires, a groom’s despair, a rival’s provocation, family expectations and a community in crisis.

Featuring Flamenco dancers: Irene Alonso “La Pasionaria” and Ana Belen Lopez Rodriguez, the new work is the culmination of a phase of practice-based PhD research and devised workshops exploring the concepts of identity, place, time and transition.
